BERKSHIRE CHORAL FESTIVAL
CONCERT NEWS

Board of Trustees - retiring members
St. Vitus Cathedral, Prague

The countdown is on: The long-awaited Prague/Terezin singing experience begins a week from tomorrow, May 9, with the performance of the Defiant Requiem: Verdi in Terezin, on Sunday, May 17.

More than 200 choristers and friends will be arriving from all corners of the globe for an intensive week of rehearsing, sightseeing, and enjoying Prague’s many cultural offerings.

Of course, current events are always with us, and we understand that many choristers have concerns about the repercussions of the swine flu situation. Our plan is to continue with the trip. We are frequently checking the World Health Organization website: http://www.who.int/csr/disease/swineflu/en/index.html, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services website http://www.hhs.gov/, and the CDC website http://www.cdc.gov/swineflu/ for updates and suggest that others do the same if you are concerned.

BachWe’ve had our first real touches of spring here in the past two weeks; now we are confident that summer really is coming after a particularly cold winter in the Berkshires.

Our surest way of knowing, however, is hearing from choristers and audience members as July draws nearer.

There are still spots available in Week 1 (African-American Spirituals, Dear Mrs. Parks), Week 4 (Mozart’s Solemn Vespers, Purcell’s Dido & Aeneas), and Week 5 (Bach’s St. Matthew Passion) for all voice parts. Apply Here Online!

There are three ways you can purchase tickets: by following this link (https://www.chorus.org/hear/purchase_tickets.php), by mail, or by calling 413-229-1199.

Tickets for our July 3, 2009 performance of Mendelssohn’s Paulus in Montreal are on sale at http://www.admission.com. The ticket menu is offered in English as well as French.
