Berkshire Choral Festival E-Newsletter September 2006

Another summer is behind us already! It’s hard to believe that the 2006 season is almost over. Sheffield and Canterbury had very successful weeks this summer, with great chorister and audience attendance. The 180 Salzburg choristers will begin their week this Sunday. Trudy and Frank are already there, joining our Business Managers Judith and Michaela to help celebrate the 250th anniversary of Mozart’s birth.

2006 Sheffield faculty and staff

Here in Sheffield, we celebrated our 25th Anniversary in various ways…over the next few e-newsletters we will tell you about some of them. Here’s installment #1:

For weeks 1,2 4, & 5 we had a silent auction for choristers to bid on the opportunity to conduct the chorus and orchestra during the Friday afternoon rehearsal. We had the drawing at Wednesday’s dinner. Included was a free conducting lesson with Frank Nemhauser and a BCF Conductor shirt. Winners were Katie Jahosky of the Babylon Chorale, Robert Dewar of the Village Light Opera Group, Ann Kirschner Hawkins of the New York Choral Society, and Stacey Henning of the Rockville Community Chorus.

Calling all 2006 Chorister-Photographers! We want your pictures!! If you took photos at BCF this year and would like to add them to our albums, please send them in to the Sheffield office (245 N. Undermountain Road, Sheffield, MA 01257). Please include your name, the names of the people in your photos, and the week you attended.

In other news, the Annual Fund is currently at $174,794…83.63% to goal! The fiscal year ends November 30, so with a little help from everyone, the goal of $209,000 should be attainable. Special thanks to all of you who have donated! The Annual Fund supports the Berkshire Scholar and Apprentice Programs and helps keep tuition affordable for all who attend.

Best to you,

The BCF Staff
