BCI 2017 Announcement

Beginning in Asheville, North Carolina and wrapping up in Budapest, Hungary, Berkshire Choral International’s 2017 season is filled with top-notch music, accomplished conductors, and the kind of superb venues BCI is known to deliver.

Starting with Mozart’s Great Mass in C-minor conducted by Erin Freeman, director of the Richmond Symphony Chorus and Choral Activities at Virginia Commonwealth University, you will enjoy a city with a vibrant arts scene, gorgeous mountain vistas, and plenty of southern hospitality at the University of North Carolina – Asheville. In July, we shift back to Sheffield for two weeks to perform Mahler’s Symphony No. 8 and the Verdi Requiem – the piece that started it all in 1982. BCI favorite Kent Tritle, director of Cathedral Music and Organist at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, will conduct the Mahler piece while Tom Hall, director of the Baltimore Choral Arts Society, will take the helm for the latter. These two weeks will be the last in Sheffield, so don’t miss these farewell performances.

Finally, the summer season ends with a trip to Hungary in early August. Stay at a four-star hotel in Budapest on the banks of the Danube River, while Austrian conductor Heinz Ferlesch, artistic director of Wiener Singakademie, will conduct the beloved Brahms Requiem in the magnificent Danube Promenade concert hall in Pest.

Open registration for the 2017 season begins in the fall.
